Purchasing car out of state. Driving across state lines with no plates?

Go to Alabama DMV and get a 30 day temporary permit which will allow you enough time to return to California get vehicle smog certified and apply for new registration. Don't forget to make arrangements for Insurance from California before driving it home. Good Luck
