Treatments for social anxiety?

My therapist recently recommended I see my doctor about procuring a prescription for an anti depressant and something for social anxiety. I'm a teenager and had been expecting the anti depressant advice but not the social anxiety. When i hear anxiety, I automatically think benzo's but would something like valium or xanax be prescribed to a 17 year old? If not what would be an acceptable treatment? I vaguely remember some article I read about ssri's and social anxiety? Aren't ssri's used for depression also? Could i end up getting a two in one deal? Any insight? thanks.

My brother has brain ischemia detected of a CT scan, does that indicate that he may have multiple sclerosis? As after the CT scan he has had a MRI scan, but the consultant has told us that he isn't expecting anything worrying back. Is chronic body pain/aches a recognized symptom of Multiple Sclerosis?

I have just recently been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis within the last few months. I am only 23 years-old and my doctor has put a priority on beginning treatment (Rebif), which I am scheduled to do at my next visit. I have been experiencing leg numbness/tingling paired with dizziness since this all began four months ago. I also have body aches and pains (i.e. back pain, achey joints etc.). While tingling extremities and dizziness are both universally accepted symptoms of MS, chronic pain is not. As you may know, MS is considered a disabling disease and historically (and ignorantly) doctors have not considered it a painful one. I have done tons of research on the idea of pain and MS and there's not a whole lot of information out there. Is body aches and pains, mainly not feeling "fresh" and kind of feeling like you just worked out the day before, a normal symptom? I am just curious and am trying to get as much information on my new roommate ( aka Multiple Sclerosis). I am all for any information and advice that you guys can give. Thanks.

My 5-6 year old rottie has been deemed dangerous by our town for two "bites," however they were scratches, as written in the police reports. One of them is due to a teenager harassing our dog by scaring her with a mask on, after we told him to stay away from our dog. That teenagers family told the selectmen that she is extremely dangerous and pushed to have her euthanized. Now we have 7 days to place her in a no-kill dog sanctuary or she will be put down. She is an excellent dog and she doesn't deserve to be put down, she is being discriminated against because of her breed. Even the dog officer said it's because of her breed- it scares people. I live in south eastern Massachusetts, so if anyone could please help me find a place that would take her, I would appreciate it so much! I love my dog and want the best for her!

I have most of the Multiple Sclerosis symptoms but am having trouble getting the doctors to take me seriously.?

I am in my 40's but have had many of the symptoms for the last 8 yrs or so. I now have episodes where I cannot walk unless I use a cane, have terrible leg pain and random muscle spasms, vertigo and have even lost my job because of it. Does anyone know what I can do or who I can see in or near Waco, Tx.? I am tired of going from one doctor to the next and then being referrred to the first doctor and starting over again. I have been told that I should have a MRI but none of the doctors have ordered it, or for that matter no tests except the EMG, which came back normal. ANY help would be appreciated, I know little about what I am facing or what to do. All I do know is I have about 90% of all the MS symptoms and am soooo tired of all the pain. I have been run in circles for 12 months now and my insurance runs out in November. ANY help???

I'm a 20 yr old female, and no I'm not a hypochondriac. A recent near collapse when walking down stairs due to my knee trembling caused me concern so I Googled it and found it could be a common symptom of MS. I thought nothing of, but decided to continue reading to satisfy my curiosity. I noticed how many symptoms I have that are related to the disease, such as: trouble focusing sight and seeing light spots, muscle fatigue, twitching, dull pain, discomfort, stiffness, and even itching (especially in my extremities), difficulty articulating and slightly slurred speech, balance difficulties and occasionally complete loss of balance when sitting down for a long period of time or exposed to heat such as a hot bath, frequent urination (8-12 times a day), dizziness and vertigo, depression, extreme mood changes (Bipolar disorder has been ruled out by my Psychiatrist), difficulty with short term memory loss and concentrating, and the phantom feeling of something caught in my throat. My symptoms become more frequent when I'm stressed and sometimes I go months without the symptoms in between stressed times. As far as I know, I don't have a family history of MS. I'm trying to decide if it could just be a coincidence or if I should schedule a Dr.'s appointment. I just started taking Zoloft a week ago, and besides a daily multivitamin, I'm not taking anything else.

What can I put over a candle to protect a picture from scratching off?

I run a small business out of my house. One of the items I sell are personalized candles. I print out a picture on a special sheet of paper that turns in to a film that can be applied over the candle. I can print text, pictures, anything the customer wants. The problem is that the film, once dried, can easily be scratched and rubbed off with regular or basic handling. Is there anything I can put over the candle that is non-flammable to protect the image, but still allow the candle to burn down properly (and not ignite the customer's coffee table)?

Major lady problems! HELP?

Ok, I am a 20 year old female. I am having horrible pains and nobody knows whats wrong. I have a very, red,almost purple vagina, its very swollen,with tons of discharge,and its very itchy and very painful, i also have cuts at the bottom of my vagina. I have been to several doctors and have been tested for STDs, yeast infections, BV, vaginitis, everything and it ALWAYS come back negative.I had a biopsy done, and the results came back as early lichen sclerosis-which I don't have ANY of the symptoms. I think the doctors are just so annoyed with me that they told me that to go away. I have changed my diet to not eat unhealthy foods, no soda, I use dove soap, baby laundry soap(no smell or colors) i wear cotton underwear and no tight jeans/pants. Stealthy radio controlled lobster trap?

The waters around long island ny are loaded with lobsters, To catch them the lobster trap has to sit on the bottom at least over night.Commercial lobster men use personalized floats ,witch everybody knows you damn well do not touch period.However when the lobster pirates see a non commercial float there pulling it up every time. Is this a valid reason for a doctor to induce labor?

I have arthritis in my knees, back, and hands. This pregnancy has been really rough on me and now at 37 weeks the baby's weight has made it very difficult to move and almost impossible to complete daily tasks. I can't take my med.s due to pregnancy and Tylenol isn't doing crap for me. It hurts to move. I'm already in early labor and dilated to 1 cm. On top of all this doctors think I may have a mild form of tuberous sclerosis ( there is a 50% chance of me passing it on to my child, I didn't know I could be carrying this till after I saw a high risk OB). This can cause seizures and retardation. The stress is starting to throw me into a depression along with my inability to get around the house. If I explain this to the Ob do you think she would swipe my membrane or induce me? I am terrified of her thinking I'm being selfish or pushy...

Best sewing machine to personalize items with monograms?

Brother Sewing/Embroidery machine. I have one and I love it. It comes with some built in patterns but there is a USB cord you can hook to your computer and upload many many patterns. There are many free ones and some for purchasing. You need win zip on your computer because embroidery designs are zip files. The only problem with the machine I have is that it only does a 4inch by 4inch design. This has not been a problem for me because I usually don't need one any larger. Mine cost around $400 and is very user friendly, light weight and the stitches are beautiful. If you haven't sewn for very long I would go to a hometown sewing shop to purchase a machine because they will be helpful when you have problems or questions. If you buy it at walmart you will be on your own. I have no complaints about my machine and it saves me money on gifts!

hello jess.my husband is 33 and has ms he was diagnosed last year in april,all your symtoms do seem like ms and also if you can remmeber having all these things for a long period of times also what u are going through is a replapse that is like havinh a flare up.my husband started with back pains very severe and our pcp sent him for an mri of the brain and spine because when he would lower his head he would feel a tingle go down his spine, so after the mri we went to see an MS specialist and yeap there it was the horrible news he has 9 lesions in his brain and some in his spine, we was diagnozed with primary progreesive MS he is in a shot every other day, called betaceron.i think he is doing ok.

Dreams about arguing with my dead mother?

My mother died just under 9 years ago from MS (Multiple Sclerosis). About 2 months after she died, I had several dreams that she was alive and well again. I would hug her and say, 'I can't believe you're here, I have so much to tell you.' I knew in my dream that she had 'gone away' but didn't know where she had gone and I was relieved to have her back and see her walking again. Lately, the dreams I've been having are my mum and me having really big arguments. We yell and scream at each other, walk out on each other and don't resolve the argument. However, I don't know what it is that we argue about. All I can remember is that we yell at each other, say what we want to say and then the dream finishes. These dreams are disturbing as my mum and I never screamed at each other when she was alive. We did fight and argue but never screamed or yelled at each other. I'm wondering why after 9 years, all of a sudden, these dreams are happening?

It really depends on the person. If the person really likes you it shouldn't matter that you walk funny. Also sometimes people like the little flaws in the people they like. I wouldn't worry about it.

Some people experience occassional relapses and then recover, while others have a more dangerous type where things go downhill in a steady fashion. There is quite a bit of research being done on MS and hopefully this will lead to some promising medications. I have a couple of good friends who suffer from MS - I hate what it does to them yet there is nothing I can do. Feelings of helplessness and depression are common. Blurred vission when looking to the side?

My friend has a problem. When he moves his eyes to one side one eye turns and the other one stays. Like if he looks to the left the left eye turns and the right eye doesn't respond. And if he looks to the right the right eye turns and the left eye doesn't respond. And he got an MRI and they found spots in his brain.... Ok, so here is the story. I just turned 16, and I feel like breaking down over this whole situation. It makes me upset to really think about it and the one thing I could think of was coming and asking for help or advice. I had blood test that confirmed a level of 14 for vitamin D. Dr. Has prescribed vitamin d in 50 thousand units twice a week. I'm scared that this is causing or has cause me to develop an auto immune disease since I've read that low vitamin d can cause auto immune disorders. Very delicate question and not meant to insult any Multiple Sclerosis sufferer. I was watching the news where a woman with MS who had trained previously as a bus driver could not find a job since being diagnosed with the disease. Although I believe they should not be discriminated against, surely for public safety there must be certain types of jobs that should be off bounds. This woman admitted somedays she could not move her legs and (having worked with MS sufferers) I know their limbs can go into uncontrolled spasms. This is a bit specific, but it would be incredibly helpful if I could find something of the sort. A wristwatch or something simple to have on your person that is able to read out recorded messages to you at specific times. Unless you have a specific injury, back pain if caused by weak core muscles. When your core is weak your spine tends to sag a sway a little bit when you make irregular movements. Do some regular exercise for the tummy and back. The pain will be replaced by aching muscles for a while but the sharp pains should stop.

How to maintain a healthy diet as a teenager?

I'm a 16 yr old girl and I'm not going to lie, i love food. I just think that lately I've been eating pretty unhealthy and I'd like to gain the will and self discipline to cut out unhealthy things from my diet and add better things to it, without completely starving myself. I have Multiple Sclerosis which particularly affects my legs so a lot of exercises are difficult for me. I am not very overweight, I'm 5' 6" and weigh 9 stone. I'm a young adult (translation: teenager) trying to decide what vocation to choose. To give you some background information on me, I'm the vegetarian type who loves animals. I've always been the one who saves the dying baby bat in the backyard and relocates dozens of toads to save them from the dogs. However, I'm somewhat squeamish. I don't think I could handle being a veterinarian, simply because I would then have to cope with all of the blood/internal organs. How can i fix my marriage?

when i was 16 yrs old i went overseas and came back to the US when i went back to school i started to have headaches because i would see everything doubled..i went to my primary doctor and he says that i am fine there is nothing wrong with my eyes..i took couple days off of school so i can concentrate on my vision, so i went back to school and couldn't see again and that is when my dr. told me i have to go see a vision dr. so i had an appointment at childrens hospital cuz i was only 16 at that time and as i came out of my house i fell down the stairs and culdnt walk again...my mom and sister had to pick me up to the hospital:( as i got there they did MRIs a spinal tap and c-t scan and everything was normal and i was unable to walk for 2 weeks:(..i stayed like 3-4 weeks at the hospital:( so depressing 3 weeks after i went home i decided to go back to school and at that time i got double vision again:( i went back to childrens hospital and they did new MRIs and it showed scattered parts in my brain:( so that is when they think its MS...i dont believe i have MS cuz at the age of 16 isn't it too young??? do u think i have MS and what do u think i should do..they gave me copaxone but i refused to take it cuz i believe i am too young to take the injections...Do u think i have MS..please help..im getting depressed just thinking about it:(

How can I exercise without wiping myself out because of my Multiple Sclerosis?

I have MS and I get extremely fatigued. I would like to start a mild workout routine in the morning to help me strengthen but it just kicks my butt. I get even more fatigued and my weakness is worse. I thought about doing it in the evening after the kids go to bed but I already have a hard time falling asleep (although that is what I yearn to do all the time!) :-) Just don't know where to start.

Statutory Rape Question?

So I know this guy who was convicted of statutory rape. At the time in which this happened he was dating a younger girl, but he was only 18 (they were high-school sweethearts). So now he has to carry that label around forever, just because he got the girl pregnant and the mom decided to press charges. Does this mean he is a bad person? Should he have to carry around the title of a rapist for the rest of his life? He is still in contact with the girl, so obviously she has no hard feelings. Should the law be more strict as to who is convicted of such crimes? I hear all the time about this sort of thing happening to 18 and 19 year old kids. Is it fair that they are charged with such crimes if their significant other is like 15 or 16? I know that the age a person becomes an adult is 18, but until a person turns 20, they are still a teenager (in my opinion). I just think that the law might be a little bit unfair at times.

Do you think it just keeps things interesting to some people?? I wonder because my mom was raised going to church constantly, and by the time she was a teenager she was teaching the Sunday school there every weekend and Wednesday nights. She doesn't cuss, drink alcohol, smoke or do anything "bad" at all, and she was just 100% Christian. Then my dad has smoked weed, done mushrooms/acid back in the 70s when he was just a teen. He grew up in the "Hollywood" crowd, my grandparents raised him the God is a figment of people's imagination and the Bible/sins are just a way to control people. He's read the Bible, Qu'ran, knows everything about Judaism, etc he can debate things in the Bible with my mom, and he's obsessed with science, astronomy, evolution, etc.... my mom doesn't understand/"get" any of it because it goes against her religion (but she tries to lol). Still, my parents have been together since they were both 19, and now they are both 50. How is it that these types of relationships work so well sometimes?? I think its cute, but I would never guess to put these types together. I sometimes wonder what it'd be like to maybe date a guy opposite of me in some ways too, because I grew up in a household where I got to learn/see both sides. I like that. What do you think???

I really don't want to sound immature like all the other teenagers on this website. But recently, i would say about 1 month and a half ago I was fingered by my boyfriend for the first time. I am 16 and this is the first sexual experience I had had and I was sure I was ready. I had my period a week after this happened but when it has come to this months (due on the 24th July), I still haven't come on. I have has issues myself and went and got a second opinion which that did blood work mri's ct's I was diagnosed with mctd which is Mixed connective tissue disease. Its an overlapping disease. Teen Health Advise Needed!!!!?

The normal stereotype for teenagers is... sit on your butt all day... eat burgers and fries for every meal... drink soda... milkshakes... all you do is play xbox or go on facebook... but I'm not one of those and I feel like I'm insanely huge! I'm a fourteen year old girl, 5'11, and weigh somewhere between 151 and 155. I NEVER drink soda, never eat out, never eat fries or burgers, never have milkshakes, but I cannot lose weight. My problem is sneaking bites of things. Like the peanut butter jar will be left out and I'll take a spoon and take some on it and eat it, then crave some more and eat some more of it. I eat a healthy breakfast every morning. Or perhaps chocolate chips will be out I'll eat a handful here and then 20 minutes later do it again! I need to break my habits because it's starting to show in my hair and skin health. I don't want to be fat anymore please help!

I had blood test that confirmed a level of 14 for vitamin D. Dr. Has prescribed vitamin d in 50 thousand units twice a week. Constant warm water sensation on thighs and legs?

I've been having these "sensations" on both my legs,calfs, and thighs for about 3 weeks now. It feels like someone is pouring Luke warm water on them. They are not warm to the touch at all.It comes and goes during the afternoon. I've had a ct scan done, lumbar puncture and blood work done. The only thing abnormal was vitamin D. My Dr said normal is about a level of 32 and I have 14. He prescribed vitamin d of 50,000 units. Could the vitamin d deficiency be the cause of this? I'm afraid of something like multiple sclerosis. What are some tips to save money around the house?

In the summer I hang my clothes outside and save a ton on my electricity bill. Added bonus, the laundry smells amazing. I use a reel mower to cut the grass (no gas or electricity use but only good for a small yard). Added bonus, you get a bit of a work out. use the microwave instead of the oven. It won't heat up the house in the summer like the oven does and uses less electricity. Get rid of cable and get something like netflicks. I used to spend $70 a month for cable that I wasn't watching because nothing good was ever on but scraped that for netflicks. I now spend $8 a month for movies and tv shows with no commercials and I can get it on my cell phone too for when I am traveling. Unfortunately if you are into the reality tv shows or want the new tv shows this won't work as they offer older shows. Also if you want to save a bit of money on gas fill you car up in the morning when the temperature is lower. Gas expands when it gets warm so you will actually be putting less gas in your car if you fill up on a hot day then you would on a cold day. These are just a few ideas. Good luck

This kid, "Eric", and I have been pretty good friends for many years. But, in January, Eric was shot in a drive-by and his two best friends died. I really don't know what to do with this I am hoping some of you can offer some insight. I have been married to my husband for 4 years next month and we have 2 children (3 and 1 1/2) together. I definitely agree that teenagers should be aware but they give in to peer pressure easily and as hard as we all might try, there's nothing we can do to officially stop every single teen in the US from having sex. It's definitely wrong, and even MORE wrong when they have abortions, and i agree it's a problem, but teenagers should finally be able to realize that having early pregnancies can ruin their life. then maybe they'll finally realize they're doing things wrong. why wouldn't they want to live a normal teenage life?

Can a CT scan detect Multiple Sclerosis?

My brother is in hospital and he has had a CT scan and said there is minor problems seen and have got him to have a MRI scan which we are still awaiting the results for. They have said that the results of the CT scan didnt show anything major to worry about, but decided to have a MRI scan just to be cautious. But all of his symptoms are pointing towards Multiple Sclerosis; even though the hospital havent picked up on it as they are inadequate as he isnt even on the neurological ward as there are no beds, so the doctors on the ward have no idea about neurological disease and I have only checked on the internet for the symptoms and it matches (no mention about Multiple Sclerosis from the staff there as they are idiots as we have not met a single neurologist despite acemic changes being seen on the CT scan and large white matter). So would the CT scan have shown signs of Multiple Sclerosis?

I've never had a real relationship with my father, so I'm thinking about asking my uncle/godfather to give me away when I get married. When he moves his eyes to one side one eye turns and the other one stays. Like if he looks to the left the left eye turns and the right eye doesn't respond. Im facing this problem, I need to create a personalized formula that helps me to do the next: I got a list of employees that changes every day this is that every single day we have different employees involved in different work orders, at the end of the day I need to calculate the used time in every work order, i do this by adding all the used time Per work order, for example if the employee worked 1 hour in work order number 12345 and 30 minutes in work order number 6789 the total of the day it will be 1 hour 30 minutes, to calculate the time percentage of every work order i divided 1 hour between 1.30 hours this will represent the 77% of the employee time expanded on this work order during the day, my problem is that I have to manually input this formula every single day with every single employee, then I have to calculate the maximum of time and the divided by each work order time subtotal, when there is only like 5 employees during the day is not to complicated or tedious but at the end of the week Is really tedious to do this not to mention the risk of making mistake, again my main problem is that I don't know how to make this easier if creating a personlized formula or with a macro but I would not know the instructions to created, so if anybody have any idea in how to do this please help me, thanks in advance
